UWE Animation taking part in BBC4 Arts Anthology

A graduate and two of our third years are having their films showcased by BBC4 Arts as part of the New Creatives program with Calling the Shots, as part of their new animation anthology.

There are two films, one by Laura-Beth Cowley, and the other from David Torre and Paris Bannerman.

These films will be part of the anthology available to watch on BBC4 this Sunday 26th at 22:55 here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000hqnp

David & Paris’s film is called “Noise”.

Synopsis:
Gary has had too much of the internet’s endless stream of useless content. It has all blended into a noise that has driven him crazy and taken him into a strange world where he is now on a quest to liberate his brain from the abuse. Unexpectedly, you were part of it all along.

Laura’s film is called “The Gift”.

Synopsis:
The Gift is a short 2D animated film about witchcraft, menstruation and the power women hold within. Focusing on a mix of cultural bad luck tropes associated with menstruation, if we take these superstitions as truths why can’t they be seen as a form of magic themselves?
